Today’s Outfit: Getting Comfortable

25 Oct

I’m so comfortable today, I may as well be wearing pajamas . Stretch, cropped skinny pants, a cozy thin-knit sweater, and super comfortable booties.  So why not lounge? If only they’d let me have a comforter in my office….

Today’s Outfit: Red, Red

20 Oct

(Snapped with my iPhone…excuse the less than perfect resolution but I couldn’t let this top go by).

You know, like really red, red.  It’s a bold color and one that I’m finding myself drawn to lately in a number of things.   First, my latest manicure–deep red.  Second, lips–bright cherry. Third, this top.  Red can work for everyone; you just have to find your own special shade. I sat with the Sephora girl for the better part of half an hour to find my best shade of red lips. When I did, the compliments wouldn’t stop coming. So why not carry it over into my clothes (and keep those kind words flowing)? And when you do go for it, don’t just do red….do red, red.

Today’s Outfit: “Ooh, I love your jacket.”

19 Oct

In less than 30 minutes, I’ve heard this five times, now.  And so there’s nothing better to call this post than just that – “Ooh, I love your jacket.” I’m obsessed with refreshing my jacket collection because I’ve recently done some purging.  The giveaways were just no longer feeling fresh or even my style. So I have been on the lookout for a few key jacket replacements. This one was not on the original list however, upon seeing it in the store I couldn’t turn it down.  And you know what? I love my own jacket.

The Jacket is  military style complete with military-style buttons, black and white tweed weave, and an over-sized collar.

Are you in love with the tuxedo tail?

Today’s Outfit: I’m Golden

17 Oct

The top is loose and a bit slouchy in a lustrous, metallic bronze. The hem scoops down in the front and back with dolman sleeves (my favorite style); loose and airy but fitted around my wrists.  And I kept the rest, sleek, clean black.

A mix of metal bangles, beads, and old school gold.  Let’s see….Venetian glass beads, crystal beads, distressed gold bangles, 24K gold filigree, and Kenneth Jay Lane black and gold signature bangle

Some Saturday Style

16 Oct

Just strolling through an open art studio walk in our dear-heart Brooklyn, Amy  had her camera and took some photos.  She’s great at those and I love being a part of it.

One Hot Thing: Boots with Studs

13 Oct

Reminiscent of Christian Louboutin, these spike-studded booties are just plain ridiculous (in that way that’s amazing and memorable).  Studs, or any hardware really, give the prettiest or most classic accessory a toughness that’s sexy and special.  The intimidation of spikes is mitigated by elegant, feminine 5″ heels. But that doesn’t change the fact that metal spikes have a Gothic, angel-of-death type of feel. And, quite frankly, that’s A-okay in my book. These booties are bad-ass and fantastic.  They just are.
