Fashion Inspiration: Active Wear Makes Good Day Wear

13 Dec

As fashion evolves, the lines defining wearing occasions become blurrier. Anything is possible and anything goes, it seems.  It is possible to dress for less and it is possible to look good and be comfortable at the same time.  Case in point: fitness brands have expanded to offer active wear that is not only functional, but very stylish. That same gear, if done right, can translate to day wear. Simply select one piece (refrain from head to toe spandex) and leave out obvious logos, to successfully incorporate active wear into your everyday rotation.  Here are a few examples from my favorite brands. But don’t stop here. Try classic brands like Puma, Adidas, and Nike for sleek, fitted, sporty options to wear for gym occasions (and lots of other occasions).

Lululemon Reflection Vest ($98): Try this vest layered over a crisp white oxford or a billow-sleeved silk top in a bright print.  Pair it with dark trousers or jeans and heels. The racer back is a sporty detail that offers a little surprise when you walk out of a room.

Lucy Lace Burnout V-Neck Tee ($48): This is a pretty version of burnout and a great layer underneath a blazer or chunky cardigan. The beautiful, bold blue stands out and the  v-neck shows off a pretty decolletage.

Lucy Cozy Holiday Jacket ($128) A gorgeous color that pops and brightens anyone’s mood! It’s an over sized shawl collar and a tunic-length, making it more unique than a run of the mill sweatshirt or sporty jacket.

Beyond Yoga Organic Scarf Jacket ($176) A jacket and scarf in one. This jacket is the perfect layer for a Saturday afternoon with friends, running errands or having a casual brunch. It’s warm, snug, and beautiful. The best part is that it’s already accessorized; just add your favorite pair of leggings or jeans.
