Brooklyn Shopping: Two Lovers

19 Nov

Strolling through Brooklyn on a beautiful day can get you into trouble…the good kind.  I was in Park Slope and saw a sidewalk A-frame sign that boasted “Cozy Sweaters & Vintage Capes”.  Well, I don’t have to tell you how I quickly veered right and ended up in Two Lovers. This charming boutique had the prettiest wallpaper and racks of color coordinated clothing of every style. It took me about three minutes to zero in on a full-length, dark gray, wool cape with orange lining. With the help of the store’s owner, Lynette, I put it on, buttoned it up.  I felt like I should have been a vampire extra in a dark and sexy scene from some teen vamp movie (which I won’t name because then you’ll judge me and never read my blog again). I walked round and round debating whether I wanted to hear how much it cost, lest I burn a hole in my credit card from all the zeros.  But like any good shopper with a shred of integrity, I sucked in my breath and asked.  Lynette said, “$88”.

Jaw drop. Eyes bug.Wrap it up.

Turns out, Two Lovers is a vintage and second hand store.  Coulda fooled me (and it did).  It’s the most charmingly decorated, lovingly styled second hand boutique I’ve ever come across.  Two Lovers now has a third (and she now has that cape).

Awesome, off-set buttons

Beautiful display table and a $5 bucket with some seriously good finds

Cash wrap and beautiful wallpaper backdrop

Dressing rooms and a rug I should have offered to buy (or, begged to buy)

So pretty

I honestly felt like I was in the boutique with you – great piece! Brooklyn is such a special place…there’s nothing like finding a go-to boutique that has amazing yet nicely priced things. Keep up the hard work 🙂
