Women’s Petite Fashions: Henrietta Pertuz

1 Oct

A fellow Association of Image Consultants (AICI) member, Jacquie Peros,  (and our board President here in NYC) became friendly with an NYC-based designer, Henrietta Pertuz, who specializes in women’s petite fashion. Being that I am petite, my ears perked up.   Petite simply means under 5’4″ and the sizes range from 0-14 or 16.  Inseams are shorter alleviating the extra expense at your tailor.  Armholes are higher and more appropriately placed for a shorter torso.  Likewise, knee placement is also higher to accommodate shorter legs. And, sleeve length is shorter because presumably, the shorter the body, the shorter the arms.  Clearly, this is an art. Henrietta’s pieces are clean and simple, classic and timeless-well worth the investment.

If you can’t shop at a specialty designer due a limited budget, try out some more mass brands that have petite lines like J Crew, Banana Republic, Express, The Limited, Ann Taylor (Loft), The Gap, Armani Exchange, and Levi’s.

Visit her stores or shop online.  And, check out the pieces that Jacquie bought while in Henrietta’s NYC studio. Here are some of my favorites.

Day to Night Trouser, $310

Molly Dress, $275

Must-Have Camel Coat, $495

I really love it when someone fills an empty void like Henrietta Pertuz does when she designs STYLISH clothes for Petite fashionistas!

Great job getting this on Fashion Societé’s radar Zovig, thank you for the heads up~ my readers will appreciate this info :))

Absolutely! I’m going to see her stuff on November 4th in the studio. It really is true that nothing is made for you right off the rack. Everyone’s unique and it’s so great that there are people who recognize the need for customization.
